Ford Transit Active hood fault

Hi, I have a 2009 Ford Transit with a gasoline engine. I'm getting an "Active hood fault" message on the on-board computer, and the airbag warning lamp is on. I checked the error memory, and it has a stored error. Also, the spring actuators seem to have been triggered. Has anyone experienced something similar?

I had a similar issue with my Transit. If the error memory is showing an acceleration sensor fault, it's likely the culprit. Think of it like a faulty smoke detector triggering a false alarm – the sensor thinks there's been an impact.

Thanks for the quick reply! So, was it definitely the acceleration sensor in your case? And did you also notice the spring actuators had deployed? Did you fix it yourself or go to a workshop?

Yes, it was the acceleration sensor. The actuators were also triggered, as they're designed to deploy upon impact or a perceived impact. Given the airbag light, I would advise you take it to a workshop. It's a safety system, after all, like the emergency exits in a building - best to have it checked by professionals.

Okay, thanks for the advice. I took it to the workshop, and you were right, it was a defective acceleration sensor. The repair cost 315€. Everything is working normally now.
