Ford Transit crankshaft camshaft reference value issue
Summary of the thread
A 2000 Ford Transit diesel is experiencing reduced power, poor engine response, and higher fuel consumption, with diagnostics indicating a crankshaft to camshaft reference value issue. The problem may be caused by a defective crankshaft sensor, though issues with the timing chain or cam sensor could also be factors. It is suggested to have the vehicle checked at a workshop, with the crankshaft sensor being the most likely culprit.

Thanks for the reply. Did you have the same symptoms? How did you resolve it?

Yes, practically the same symptoms. In my case, it turned out to be the crankshaft sensor. I'd get it checked at a workshop if I were you. It's hard to be certain without proper diagnostics.

Thanks. I'll take it to a workshop and have it checked thoroughly. The crankshaft sensor seems most plausible. The repair cost will be 340€. I appreciate your help!

Hey, I had similar issues with my Transit. Reference value error...sounds familiar. Have you checked the timing chain? Could also be the cam sensor acting up, though the crankshaft sensor is the more likely culprit, I think.
