Fortuner AC failure
Summary of the thread
The AC in a 2011 Toyota Fortuner stopped cooling entirely, with the system not switching on. Initial checks of the fuses showed no issues. Possible causes suggested included a faulty pressure switch or the need for a system recharge. However, the sudden failure without prior warning indicated a more specific issue, such as defective valves. A visit to a workshop confirmed that some valves were indeed faulty, leading to a successful repair.

No weird noises that I can recall, and it was working perfectly fine one day and then nothing the next. It has been a while since I had AC maintenance, maybe 3 years ago? Could it really be just that?

Sudden failure with no prior warning points to a more specific issue than just needing a recharge. Given the age and symptoms, a defect in individual valves is plausible. AC diagnostics at a workshop are advisable to pinpoint the exact cause.

Thanks! Took it to a shop, and you were spot on – some valves were shot. Cost me around 1000€ to get it fixed, but at least I'm cool again. Appreciate the help!

Could be a faulty pressure switch, or maybe the system needs a recharge. Have you noticed any unusual AC noise recently, or has the AC efficiency been declining gradually before it failed completely? When was the last AC maintenance?
