Fortuner door lock failure
Summary of the thread
The 2005 Toyota Fortuner is experiencing issues with locking and unlocking the doors, potentially due to a bad door contact signal or a wiring problem. A similar issue was resolved by checking the wiring harness where it enters the door jamb, as these wires can break. It is recommended to visit a repair shop for proper diagnostics and repair.

Thanks for the suggestion. Could you be more specific about where to find that wiring harness and what kind of damage to look for?

The harness is usually behind the door panel, running from the door lock mechanism to the car's body. Like I said, I had a similar issue, and it turned out to be a broken wire there. But without proper tools, it's hard to get to it. I suggest you visit a repair shop; they can diagnose this better.

Understood. Thanks for confirming it's likely a wiring problem. I'll take it to a workshop for diagnostics and repair. The repair cost was 95€.

I had similar problems with my Fortuner. Is your car alarm acting up too? It could be related to the door switch or the automatic locks. Check the wiring harness where it enters the door jamb; those wires are known to break.
