Fortuner door lock failure

I'm having trouble locking/unlocking the doors on my 2005 Toyota Fortuner with a gasoline engine. It's only got about 49271 km on it. I'm thinking it might be a bad door contact signal, maybe a cable or plug issue.

I had similar problems with my Fortuner. Is your car alarm acting up too? It could be related to the door switch or the automatic locks. Check the wiring harness where it enters the door jamb; those wires are known to break.

Thanks for the suggestion. Could you be more specific about where to find that wiring harness and what kind of damage to look for?

The harness is usually behind the door panel, running from the door lock mechanism to the car's body. Like I said, I had a similar issue, and it turned out to be a broken wire there. But without proper tools, it's hard to get to it. I suggest you visit a repair shop; they can diagnose this better.

Understood. Thanks for confirming it's likely a wiring problem. I'll take it to a workshop for diagnostics and repair. The repair cost was 95€.
