Fortuner Fault Memory Lock Active

Cheers for the quick reply! No jump starts recently, but the battery has been a bit sluggish lately, especially on cold mornings. When you say 'control unit', are we talking serious money, or could it be something simpler like a dodgy sensor throwing a code?

In my case, it was indeed related to a fluctuation in voltage causing the ECU to throw a hissy fit and lock the fault memory. The battery check should take precedence. I would recommend visiting a shop that could pinpoint the memory lock. In any case, expect diagnostics in that area.

Appreciate the insight. Looks like I'm off to get a diagnostic then. Cheers for pointing me in the right direction, will be sure to keep this thread informed of the outcome.

I also drive a Fortuner, and I experienced a comparable problem a while back. Was there a recent jump start or any electrical work done on the vehicle? The error lock usually indicates issues with the control unit. Double check your battery terminals and voltage first and foremost.
