Fortuner headlight washer issue
Summary of the thread
A 2023 Toyota Fortuner owner reported that the headlight cleaning system and windshield washer were not functioning, despite the fluid level being adequate. Possible causes suggested included a faulty pump relay, defective cable connections, or a clog in the system. After inspection, it was determined that the issue was due to a defective cable connection, which was resolved at a workshop.

Thanks for the insight. Where exactly is the pump relay located? And how would I check the cable connections for defects?

The pump relay location varies depending on the vehicle, but it's usually in the fuse box, either under the hood or inside the cabin. Consult your owner's manual for the exact location. As for the cable connections, visually inspect them for corrosion or damage. A multimeter can be used to check for continuity, but if you're not comfortable working with electrical systems, I would recommend taking it to a workshop. It will probably be a defective cable connection of the pump or a defective relay.

Took it to the workshop. You were spot on – defective cable connection. Cost me 165€ to fix. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!

Interesting. I had a similar issue with my 2018 Volvo XC60. The windshield washer and headlight washers stopped working simultaneously. In my case, it turned out to be a faulty pump relay. A relay is an electrical switch that uses a small current to control a larger current. If the relay fails, it can prevent power from reaching the pump. It could also be a defective cable connection to the pump, or a clog somewhere in the system. Have you checked the fuse for the washer system?
