Fortuner IAC Valve Stalling

Has anyone had issues with their 2008 gasoline Fortuner? My check engine light is on, throwing codes about the idle air control (IAC) valve. It stalls at idle, especially with the AC on. I'm guessing it's a dirty intake.

Summary of the thread

A 2008 gasoline Fortuner experienced stalling at idle, especially with the AC on, and the check engine light indicated issues with the idle air control (IAC) valve. The problem was suspected to be due to a dirty intake. The solution involved diagnosing and fixing the faulty IAC valve, which resolved the stalling issue.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

I own a Fortuner too, and that sounds like a problem I had. Was the stalling intermittent at first, then getting worse? Did you notice any rough idling before it stalled completely?

Yeah, it started intermittently and got more frequent. And there was rough idling, especially when the engine was cold. What was the issue with yours?

Sounds exactly like what happened to me. I'd suggest taking it to a good workshop. They'll have the tools and know-how to diagnose the IAC valve and intake properly.

Thanks, that confirms what I suspected. I took it to a local shop, and it was a faulty IAC valve because of a dirty intake. Cost me 425€ to fix. All sorted now.
