Function of air flap control
The function of the air damper control is to control the air supply for cooling the engine and its attachments. Depending on the design of the vehicle, there can be up to two radiator louvers in the front area, which are opened as required. The variants of air flap control vary depending on the available space, engine power and engine control.
With passive air flap control, control is by means of an electromagnet. Active air damper control, on the other hand, uses a servomotor that acts as an actuator. In addition, there is a combination of active and passive control, where the actuator controls the upper radiator louver and an electromagnet controls the lower louver."
