Function of the fuel filler flap release
To protect the driver of a vehicle from fuel theft, there is a fuel filler flap unlocking system. In most vehicles, this system is locked and unlocked via the central locking system. Therefore, the fuel filler cap of vehicles without central locking is usually secured with a lock.
As soon as the vehicle is locked via the central locking system, a servomotor simultaneously locks the flap for the tank lid. In most vehicles, this servomotor is located in the trunk on the side of the fuel filler cap.
