Function of fuel pressure regulator

Sufficient fuel supply to the engine requires a certain pressure in the fuel system, which is ensured by the electric fuel pump installed in the tank. Deviations in fuel pressure can cause excessive pressure, which can burst lines and lead to fuel spreading in the vehicle.

If the fuel comes into contact with hot parts, it could ignite. To prevent such scenarios, a gasoline pressure regulator is used. The required pressure varies between 3 and 5 bar depending on the vehicle and engine, and depends on the respective engine and load condition.
