Function of knock control
Knocking combustion indicates premature spontaneous ignition of the fuel.Knock sensors detect the noise, causing the engine control unit to adjust the ignition. Super knock, which occurs mainly in modern turbocharged engines, deserves special attention. It is caused by foreign matter in the combustion chamber that significantly increases combustion pressure.

Unlike normal knocking, super knocking cannot be corrected by ignition adjustments.Instead, the engine control unit reduces engine power and shuts down fuel injection to the affected cylinder to prevent possible engine damage.
