Freemont uneven engine running
Summary of the thread
The 2013 Fiat Freemont was experiencing uneven engine running, a check engine light, and jerking during acceleration. Possible causes considered included issues with the fuel injectors, spark plugs, or crankshaft sensor. After further investigation, it was suspected that an exhaust leak might be causing engine misfires. A professional diagnostic confirmed an exhaust system leak, which was repaired, resolving the issue.

Thanks for the suggestions! I haven't really paid close attention to the fuel consumption lately. The spark plugs were replaced about 20,000 km ago. Given the error codes and jerking, could it be something more serious like an exhaust leak causing engine misfires?

An exhaust leak is definitely a possibility, especially given the misfires and error codes. It can mess with the engine's air-fuel mixture and cause all sorts of problems. Honestly, with the check engine light on, it's probably best to get it checked out by a professional. They can do a proper diagnostic and pinpoint the exact cause.

Thanks for confirming my suspicions! I took it to the workshop, and it turned out to be a leak in the exhaust system, just as suspected. The repair cost me 265€. Runs like a champ now!

That sounds frustrating. I'm no expert, but an uneven running engine with those symptoms could point to a few things. Have you noticed any changes in your fuel consumption? Also, when did you last have the spark plugs checked or replaced? It might be worth ruling out the simple stuff first.
