Freestar Engine Start Problem

My 2005 Ford Freestar with a gasoline engine won't start. I suspect an engine control malfunction. Mileage is 217598 km. Could bad battery cable connections be the issue?

I had a similar problem with my Freestar. Check engine light came on, and then nothing. I'm no expert, but are you sure it's the battery cables? Did you check the engine light or try reading any error codes?

I have not checked the engine light, nor read any error codes. I will investigate this further. Do you recall if your Freestar exhibited the same symptoms prior to experiencing complete failure to start?

Yes, exactly the same. Check engine light was on for a while, then one morning, wouldn't start at all. Honestly, I just took it to a workshop. Turned out to be a software issue with the ECU. Might be worth getting it checked.

Thank you for the advice. The problem was indeed with the battery cable connections. The eventual repair cost was 155€.
