Freestar EVAP System Leak
Summary of the thread
A 2005 Ford Freestar owner experienced a check engine light and occasional stalling, with diagnostics indicating a fuel tank ventilation system leak. The suspected cause was a defective activated charcoal filter in the EVAP system. Another owner suggested checking the pressure sensor, but ultimately, the issue was resolved by replacing the defective charcoal filter at a workshop.

Thanks for the quick reply! I appreciate the tip. Could you provide a little more detail? Where exactly is the pressure sensor located, and what should I be looking for when I inspect it? Any insight is greatly appreciated!

The sensor is near the fuel tank. Unfortunately, I don't know much more. I ended up taking it to a workshop and they fixed the system failure for me.

Thanks for the help! I took it to the workshop as you suggested. Turns out the activated charcoal filter was indeed defective. The repair, including parts and labor, came out to 275€. At least the stalling issue is now resolved. I really appreciate you sharing your experience!

I also have a Freestar. I experienced something similar with the check engine light and occasional stalling. It turned out to be an issue with the EVAP system. Have you checked the pressure sensor?
