Freestar mixture preparation error

I am experiencing a mixture preparation error with my 2004 Ford Freestar, gasoline engine, with 56092 km mileage. The engine exhibits reduced power, rough running, and jerking during acceleration. The check engine light is illuminated, and the engine occasionally stalls at idle. I suspect a defective injector is the likely cause, but I would appreciate any insights from the community before proceeding with replacement.

I had similar symptoms in my Freestar. Have you checked the air-fuel ratio? A rich mixture can cause those issues. Also, inspect your spark plugs and intake manifold for any signs of damage or leaks.

Thank you for the suggestions. Regarding the air-fuel ratio, were you able to diagnose the issue yourself, or did a workshop determine that? And what exactly have you observed during spark plug check?

I wasn't able to pinpoint the exact injector failure myself, but based on the symptoms, the misfire codes, and some basic tests, I suspected a faulty injector. I'd advise having a workshop perform a proper diagnostic. They have the tools to properly verify the fault. I ended up with a bill of 515€ to get everything repaired.

I appreciate the confirmation and advice. I will proceed with taking it to a trusted workshop for a thorough diagnosis and injector replacement. Thank you for sharing your experience; it has been most helpful.
