Freestar Rear Window Heating Issue

Thanks for the quick reply! I did check the fuse box, and all fuses seem to be okay, none is visibly broken. The battery is a few years old, and yes, starting the car has been a bit sluggish lately. Could a weak battery really cause just the rear window heater to fail? Seems odd. Is it worth investigating that?

Yep, a weak battery can cause all sorts of weird electrical problems. Modern cars rely heavily on a stable voltage, and when the battery dips, some systems might shut down or malfunction before others. In my case (with the Astra), the mirrors were first to go. From my experience, I would suggest getting the battery tested before digging deeper; it could be an easy fix. Electrical issues can be a pain; consider getting it checked at the workshop; it might save you a lot of nerves!

Thanks a lot for the advice! I had the battery tested, and you were spot on! It was heavily discharged and defective. Replaced it, and now the rear window heater works perfectly again. Cost me 290€, but it was worth it to have it working again!

Hey there! Sounds frustrating. I had a similar issue with my old Opel Astra, though mine was the side mirrors not defrosting. Did you check the simple stuff first, like the fuse for the rear window heater? Also, is your battery old? That was actually the problem for me back then. Is your car struggling when starting?
