Freestar Seat Heater Failure
Summary of the thread
A 2004 Ford Freestar's seat heater is not functioning, and an error code suggests a potential issue with the heating mat. Another person with a similar problem advises checking the thermal sensor first, as it might be a simpler fix. Ultimately, the problem in their case was indeed the heating mat, which required replacement. The original poster plans to have a professional diagnosis and likely replace the heating mat.

Thanks. What was the 'something else' in your case? I want to avoid replacing parts I don't need.

Turns out it was the heating mat after a shop visit. They recommended replacing it since repair wasn't an option.

Thanks for the info. I'll take it to a shop for a diagnosis and probably a new heating mat. They quoted me about 390€ for the repair, hopefully that's reasonable.

I have a Freestar and had a similar seat heater problem. Before you assume it's the mat, did you check the thermal sensor? It might be an easier fix. I thought mine was the mat too at first.
