Freestar Start-Stop Failure

I'm having trouble with my 2006 Ford Freestar with a gasoline engine. The start-stop system stopped working. Now it stores an error, the engine shuts off unexpectedly, and a warning light comes on. The car has 113377 km. Has anyone else seen this?

I had a similar issue with my Freestar. Does it struggle to automatically restart after it shuts off? Usually, it's related to the battery not holding enough charge. How old is your battery?

Thanks. Yes, the engine struggles to restart sometimes, and it feels like the battery. How did you resolve the problem, and was it definitely the battery?

Yep, that was exactly my problem. All the symptoms match. I recommend taking it to a workshop to get the battery checked, or replaced. It could save you from being stranded.

Thanks for confirming my suspicion and sharing your experience. I had the battery tested at a workshop. It turned out to be heavily discharged and defective, just as suspected. I replaced it, and the start-stop system is now functioning correctly. The repair cost me 290€. Thanks again!
