Freestyle AC compressor undervoltage

My 2006 Ford Freestyle with the gasoline engine is giving me A/C headaches. The compressor just decided to quit. The A/C doesn't switch on, and it's no longer cooling. I hooked it up to a code reader and found an error stored related to undervoltage. Anyone else run into this? I'm suspecting a relay switch issue, maybe the AC relay itself. I checked for obvious refrigerant leaks, but nothing visible. The car only has 35327 km on it. Thoughts before I dive deeper?

I had something similar happen on my Ford. I think it was a weird electrical issue affecting the HVAC system. Have you checked the AC relay itself? Sometimes those go bad and cause undervoltage issues. Is the compressor getting power?

I suspected the relay switch too. I haven't put a meter on the compressor yet, but the error code strongly suggests undervoltage. Which relay exactly was causing the problem on your Ford, and where is it located?

Honestly, I couldn't pinpoint it myself. I ended up taking it to a shop; they diagnosed it as a faulty relay due to undervoltage and replaced it. They also checked the refrigerant level as a precaution. They found it quickly on the wiring diagram, I suggest you go to the workshop.

Thanks for the info! I appreciate you sharing your experience. Took it to the workshop. The undervoltage was indeed the culprit, causing the relay to fail. They replaced the AC relay and now the A/C is working perfectly again. Cost me 240€, all in. Cheers!
