Freestyle airbag warning light

Airbag warning lamp is on in my 2005 Ford Freestyle with a gasoline engine, currently at 186328 km. Suspect a defective cable or plug connection. Anyone seen this before?

I had a similar issue with my old Opel Astra, but it was the side impact sensor in the door. That triggered the SRS light. Have you checked under the seats? The connectors there sometimes come loose or get corroded.

Thanks, I hadn't thought about the under-seat connectors. Can you tell me more about the symptoms you saw with your Astra, and if there were any diagnostic codes?

The Astra displayed the airbag light constantly. I checked the fault codes with an OBD reader and it pointed to the side airbag sensor. Water got in and corroded the connector. Best to get yours scanned to be sure though, and check the wiring. A workshop will know where to look.

I followed up with a local workshop, and you were right. It was a corroded connector. The repair cost 95€. Thanks for your help!
