Freestyle Fuel Level Sensor Issue

Hi, I have a 2006 Ford Freestyle with a gasoline engine. Recently, the check engine light has been coming on, and the engine occasionally stalls at idle. I checked the error memory, and it indicates a fault with the fuel level sensor. I've checked for any obvious wiring issues around the fuel tank, but everything seems intact. Does this model have a separate fuse for the fuel level sensor that I might check?

I had something similar happen with my Freestyle. Same symptoms – check engine light and occasional stalling. I didn't check for a fuse though. Does your fuel gauge act erratically too?

Yes, sometimes the fuel gauge does seem a bit jumpy, especially when the tank is less than half full. Did you manage to fix yours, and if so, what was the problem?

Yeah, mine was doing the same thing with the fuel gauge. Honestly, I just took it to a workshop. They replaced the sensor, and it's been fine ever since. Probably best to get it checked professionally.

Thanks for the advice. I took it to my mechanic, and it turned out to be a faulty fuel level sensor, just like you said. The error code pointed right at it. They replaced the sensor. The repair cost me 52€. All good now!
