Freestyle keyless entry malfunction

I had a similar issue with my Ford (Taurus, not a Freestyle). The door handle electronics were acting up, starting with intermittent keyless entry problems, then stopping altogether. Have you checked the wiring harness where it goes into the door? That's where my problem was. Could be a broken wire or a loose connector.

Thanks for the tip! Where exactly should I be looking for this wiring harness? Is it easily accessible once I remove the door panel, or is it buried deeper inside the door mechanism?

On my Taurus, it was behind the door panel, near the latch mechanism. You should be able to see it once you remove the panel. Honestly, though, if you're not comfortable fiddling with it, I'd suggest taking it to a workshop. I ended up doing that, and they found the broken wire pretty quickly.

Thanks for the advice. I think I'll bring it to a shop rather than risk messing something else up. They quoted me about 95€ to fix the cable or plug, so not too bad.
