Freestyle Overheating Air Flap Fault
Summary of the thread
A 2005 Ford Freestyle is experiencing intermittent check engine light activation and engine overheating. A diagnostic scan indicates an active air flap fault, suggesting a potential issue with the electromechanism. The recommended solution is to have the vehicle inspected and repaired at a workshop to address the air flap fault and prevent further overheating.

Thanks! Did your Opel Corsa also overheat when the check engine light came on? And did the scan specifically say the active air flap was the problem?

Yeah, the overheating was definitely happening. The scan pointed to the flap. Honestly, I just took it to a workshop after that. Saved myself a headache.

Thanks for confirming. I'll take it to a good workshop for a checkup and fix. I'm guessing it'll cost around 590€. Thanks again.

Hey, that sounds familiar. I had a similar problem with my older Opel Corsa a while back. Check engine light and everything. Was it the flap motor itself?
