Freestyle rough start camshaft sensor issue

I'm having rough starts and stalling issues with my 2004 Ford Freestyle with a gasoline engine, around 143k kilometers. Check engine light's on, throwing a camshaft sensor code. Thinking it could be the encoder wheel. Anyone else dealt with this?

Dude, I had almost the exact same problem with my Freestyle! Same symptoms – rough starts, stalling, the whole shebang. I bet it's that camshaft sensor.

Seriously? What did you do to fix it? Was it actually the sensor, or something else?

Yeah, that was it. I fiddled around for a bit, but honestly, I just took it to a workshop. Best decision ever. Saved me a ton of grief.

Sounds like I'm headed for the same fate. I was hoping to avoid the shop, but I guess some things are just beyond my skillset. I'll book an appointment. Just got a quote: 695€ for the repair. Ouch!
