Freestyle Transmission Oil Pressure Sensor Issue

I'm writing to ask about a weird problem with my 2005 Ford Freestyle with a gasoline engine. It has about 32685 km on it. The engine light came on, and it gave an error code about the transmission oil pressure sensor. Also, the transmission seems to be in emergency mode. It's slipping and shifting roughly. Sometimes, I hear grinding when it shifts. I thought maybe the gearbox oil was low. Anyone know about this?

I have a Ford Freestyle too. I had something similar happen last year. You're right to check the oil level. The transmission oil pressure sensor monitors the fluid pressure. Low fluid can cause those issues. Did you check the oil level since you suspected it?

Thanks for the reply. I haven't checked the oil yet because I don't know where the dipstick is. Can you tell me where to find it and how to check the transmission oil level on my Ford Freestyle?

I'd suggest taking it to a workshop. These transmissions are tricky, and it's easy to misdiagnose. If the sensor is bad, you need the right tools to replace it. I had a similar issue with my Freestyle and had to bring it in. It was a faulty sensor and low oil.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I'll take my Ford Freestyle to a trusted local workshop for an inspection, based on your advice. The workshop confirmed it was a defective transmission oil pressure sensor and low oil. The total repair is 365€. Thanks again for your help!
