Frozen Boxster Nozzles: Fix for Failed Heater System?

Hey everyone, I'm dealing with frozen washer spray nozzles on my '08 Boxster. Pretty sure it's a faulty nozzle heater, but want to confirm before heading to the shop. Has anyone experienced this and got it fixed? What was the repair process like and how much did it cost? Thanks for any insights!

I have some experience working on cars, and I dealt with a similar issue on my 2010 Porsche Cayman (pretty close to your Boxster). Those frozen nozzles are super annoying! Had to take it to my local Porsche specialist last winter. Turned out it was a loose cable connection to the heater unit. They fixed it by reconnecting and securing the cables properly, cost me around 95€ for the whole job. Been working perfectly since then. What's the exact year and engine type of your Boxster? Might be able to share more specific info since these models often have similar setups. Have you noticed if the nozzles work fine in warmer weather?

Thanks for sharing your experience! Mine's a 2008 Boxster with the gas engine, currently at 82,848 KM. Yeah, they actually work perfectly when it's warm out, it's just been acting up since the temperatures dropped. Thanks for the heads up about the cable connection! That's good to know it might not be a full heater replacement. Did your mechanic mention how long the repair took? I'm hoping to get this sorted before the next cold snap hits.

Hey again! Yeah, mine took about an hour to fix, the mechanic spent most of that time just accessing the connections since they're a bit tucked away in the Porsche. Pretty straightforward job once they got to it though. Actually, funny you mention the mileage, my Cayman had around 85,000 KM when I had the same issue. These things seem to start acting up around that range. Just a heads up though, if it's not the cable connection like mine was, the full heater replacement isn't too bad either. My had to get his replaced on his 2009 Cayman last year, and it ran him about 250€. If you're worried about the cold snap, you could try this temporary fix I used before getting it properly repaired, I kept a small spray bottle of washer fluid in the car and manually sprayed the nozzles when needed. Kind of a pain, but it works in a pinch! Let me know how it goes when you get it checked out. Would be interesting to know if it's the same cable issue as mine!

Thanks so much for all the detailed info! That's really helpful to know about both the repair time and the potential costs. The mileage similarity is interesting too, guess these things just have their quirky timing! I'll definitely keep that spray bottle trick in mind as a backup plan, but I'm going to try to get it into the shop next week. Just called my local Porsche specialist and they can squeeze me in on Tuesday. Really hoping it's just the cable connection like yours was! I'll give you an update once I find out what's going on. Really appreciate all your help with this, it's great to hear from someone who's dealt with the same issue!
