Fuel Level Sensor Fault

My 2001 Ford Maverick with a gasoline engine is having issues at 172346 km. The check engine light is on, and it occasionally stalls at idle. Error memory shows a fuel level sensor fault. I checked the fuel system fuses, but they seem fine. Any ideas?

Sounds familiar. I had a similar problem with my old Renault Megane. Same symptoms: check engine light, stalling. Fuel level sensor error, too. Did you check the wiring harness leading to the fuel tank? Sometimes corrosion or damage there can cause weird readings.

Wiring harness, you say? I only checked under the hood. Where exactly should I be looking for this harness? Is it easily accessible?

On my Megane, it ran along the underside of the car, near the fuel tank. Wouldn't say it's 'easily' accessible, but you can get to it with the car jacked up. Honestly, if you're not comfortable crawling under the car, I would suggest taking it to a workshop. Fuel systems can be tricky.

Thanks for the advice. I ended up taking it to a shop. Turned out to be a faulty sensor, as suspected. Repair cost was 52€. Appreciate the help!
