Fullback Diesel Fuel Pressure Sensor

I'm having trouble with my 2018 Fiat Fullback diesel. The check engine light keeps popping up, and the engine is running rough. Sometimes it stalls when idling. I've also noticed some jerking when accelerating. It's done 102751 km. I'm thinking it might be fuel-related, maybe a faulty fuel pressure sensor, but I'm not sure. I did check the visible wiring and plug to the sensor, but they seem ok at first glance. Any ideas?

Summary of the thread

The 2018 Fiat Fullback diesel was experiencing issues such as a check engine light, rough running, stalling when idling, and jerking during acceleration. These symptoms suggested a potential fuel delivery problem, possibly linked to a faulty fuel pressure sensor. After checking the wiring and plug, the owner suspected the sensor might be the issue. Cleaning the contacts didn't resolve the problem, so a workshop visit confirmed the fuel pressure sensor was defective, and replacing it resolved the issues.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

That sounds like a potential fuel delivery issue. Rough running and stalling are classic symptoms. Since you mention the check engine light, have you had it scanned for specific codes? That would really help narrow it down. How's your fuel economy been lately? When you checked the wiring, did you happen to check the plug contacts for corrosion?

Thanks for the quick reply! I haven't scanned it yet. I wanted to get some opinions first before heading to the mechanic. Fuel economy does seem a bit worse than usual. As for the wiring and plug, I only gave them a quick visual inspection. Should I try cleaning the contacts with some electrical contact cleaner?

Getting the codes read is the best first step. The change in fuel economy reinforces the fuel system suspicion. Cleaning the contacts is worth a shot; it's a cheap and easy fix if that's all it is. But honestly, with those symptoms, a failing fuel pressure sensor seems likely, especially given the age and mileage. A workshop might be the best shout, they'll have diagnostic tools to properly test the circuit.

Thanks for the advice! I cleaned the contacts, but the problem persisted. I took it to the workshop, and it turned out the fuel pressure sensor was indeed defective, most likely caused by a defective connection - just like I initially thought anyway! New sensor and labor cost me 95€. All good now!
