Fullback Overheating Slow Warm Up

I'm having a problem with my 2018 Fiat Fullback diesel. I've noticed the engine overheating, and it seems to be taking a long time to reach its normal operating temperature. I suspected it might be related to the cooling system. Has anyone else experienced similar issues? Any advice would be appreciated!

Summary of the thread

A 2018 Fiat Fullback diesel is experiencing engine overheating and slow warm-up times, likely related to the cooling system. The issue may be caused by a faulty thermostat, specifically the map thermostat integrated into the thermostat housing, or possibly the temperature sensor or control unit. Checking and topping up the coolant level did not resolve the problem. It is advised to consult a mechanic to address the thermostat issue to prevent further damage.

I had a similar issue with my Fullback. Overheating and slow warm-up times usually point towards a thermostat problem. It could be the thermostat housing itself, the temperature sensor, or even a faulty temperature control unit within the cooling system. The cooling fan might also be a factor, but from your description, I'd put my money on the thermostat. Did you check the coolant level?

Thanks for the quick reply! You mentioned the thermostat specifically. Is there a particular part of the thermostat that's prone to failure, and where is it located? Also, I checked the coolant level. It was slightly below the 'max' line, so I topped it up, but the issue persists.

Okay, if the coolant level is fine, then it's even more likely to be the thermostat. In my case, it turned out to be the map thermostat specifically, which is integrated into the thermostat housing. It's a common failure point on these engines. Honestly, unless you're very comfortable working on cooling systems, I'd recommend taking it to a workshop. It could save you a lot of hassle and potential damage.

Thank you so much for the helpful information! It sounds like the map thermostat is the most likely culprit. I'll take your advice and bring it to a trusted mechanic. The estimated repair cost of 350€ seems reasonable, given the potential for further damage if I mess with it myself. Thanks again!
