Fusion Active Hood Fault

I'm having a real headache with my 2016 Ford Fusion Hybrid. I keep getting an "Active hood fault" message popping up on the display, and the airbag warning light is now constantly on. I plugged in an OBD reader, and there's an error stored related to the active hood system. What's really weird is that it seems like the spring actuators have actually triggered! Has anyone else experienced anything like this?

The symptoms you describe, in particular the triggered actuators coupled with the error code and airbag warning, do indeed suggest a fault within the active hood system. Could you confirm the vehicle's mileage at the time the issue first presented?

The car has done 32843 km. I really hope it's nothing too serious or expensive. Any idea what part might be failing? Is it maybe a faulty impact sensor for the active hood?

Given the information provided, specifically the mileage and the confirmed triggering of the actuators, your suspicion of a faulty acceleration sensor is plausible. While a definitive diagnosis requires professional tools, the sensor's failure to correctly interpret impact data could certainly explain the cascade of errors you're observing. I would advise scheduling an appointment with a qualified technician; they will possess the correct equipment to diagnose and rectify such faults.

Thanks a lot for the advice! I took it to a local shop as you suggested. Turns out the acceleration sensor was indeed defective. They replaced it and it set me back about 315€. Everything seems to be working perfectly now.
