Fusion Camshaft Sensor Issue

My 2007 Ford Fusion diesel is starting poorly with reduced engine power. The check engine light is on and storing an error. I suspect it's the camshaft sensor, maybe a dodgy cable or plug. Anyone else had similar issues?

I had something similar in my Fusion a while back. Rough starting, engine misfiring, down on power, and the check engine light was on. Did you check the connection to the camshaft sensor? That was the culprit for me. Wiggle it, see if anything changes. Could be a loose connection.

Thanks! Was your issue intermittent? Mine seems consistent. Could a loose connection still be the cause? When you say "wiggle", do you mean just moving the connector, or is there a specific way to test it? What was the final solution for you?

Mine was pretty consistent too, that's why it took me a while to figure it out. By "wiggle" I just mean gently move the connector around to see if it makes any difference to the engine. I couldn't fix it myself. I took it to the workshop and they sorted it. Best to get it checked properly.

Okay, I understand. Thanks for sharing your experience! I appreciate the advice. I think I'll take it to a workshop. I got a quote for around 95€ for the camshaft sensor replacement, so hopefully, that sorts it out.
