Fusion Central Locking Fault

Morning. My 2020 Ford Fusion Hybrid is throwing a central locking fit. 183,655 km on the clock. The doors won't lock or unlock using the keyless entry or the internal switch. I've pulled the codes and it's logging an error related to the central locking module. I suspect it is something simple, maybe a fuse? Has anyone run into issues with the locking mechanism or security system on these?

Good day. I appreciate you sharing your concerns regarding the central locking system on your 2020 Ford Fusion Hybrid. Given the symptoms you described, in particular the inability to lock or unlock the doors in conjunction with error messages stored in memory, raises some flags. You mentioned checking the fuses, which is a sensible starting point. Have you confirmed functionality using a multimeter? Perhaps the Body Control Module (BCM) is the culprit. You might benefit from elaborating on the specific error code retrieved from the diagnostic scan, as that would offer more precise insight. Do you happen to know the error code? Has any work on the doors or the vehicle’s electrical system done recently?

Thanks for the response. I unfortunately didn't write the error code down, but it was fairly generic, pointing to a potential fault in the locking circuit. The multimeter showed an open circuit somewhere. I was hoping someone might have encountered a similar situation before I start tearing door panels apart. Does the BCM usually just conk out, or is there a way to test the BCM, before I bring the car to the mechanic?

Understood. An open circuit combined with a generic code indeed implies a break somewhere, possibly a malfunctioning actuator if you have verified the function of the fuses. Regarding the BCM, it is indeed possible for such a module to fail, whether from an internal flaw, or because of wear and tear. Unfortunately, a thorough test of the BCM requires specialized equipment and detailed schematics, both of which are common at a Ford certified workshop. Given your observations and the potential complexity, a visit to a trusted technician seems prudent.

Thanks for the info. Your suggestion to go to the workshop was spot on. Turned out to be a corroded connector for the central locking module, just as you suspected! 95€ all in. Great call.
