Fusion Electrical Issues

I'm having some electrical issues with my 2008 Ford Fusion diesel. It's only done 26508 km. I'm getting an undervoltage error. The car starts poorly, and I've noticed various systems failing intermittently. The lights are weak and flicker sometimes, and the battery seems weak when starting. Any ideas?

Sounds familiar! I had similar problems with my old Opel Astra – completely different car, I know, but the symptoms were almost identical. It turned out to be a heavily discharged battery, or maybe even a defective one. I would definitely check the battery voltage first, and then the voltage regulator. Also, have you checked your battery terminals for corrosion?

Thanks for the info! When you say check the battery voltage, what exactly should I be looking for?

Well, with my Astra, the voltage was way below what it should be when the engine was off, and it wasn't charging properly when the engine was running. Honestly, I'm not an expert, so I took it to a workshop. They confirmed the battery was toast. Given all your electrical gremlins, it might be worth getting it professionally checked. Could save you a lot of hassle!

You were right! Took it to a shop, and the battery was indeed the problem. New battery and a checkup cost me 290€. Thanks for the advice!
