Fusion Exhaust Treatment Malfunction

My 2019 Ford Fusion with a gasoline engine has 120523 km and exhaust treatment malfunction issues. The check engine light is on, the engine is running rough, there's an exhaust leak and a strong exhaust smell. The OBD scan points to Lambda sensor issues. Has anyone experienced similar problems with their Fusion, maybe related to the particulate filter or the catalytic converter? I'm worried about a hefty repair bill because of NOx sensors and the exhaust pipe.

That sounds rough! I've got a Fusion too. I had something similar happen a while back with the check engine light. It turned out to be a sensor throwing everything off and making the car run poorly. Get it checked soon, because if you keep driving it like that, the problem will only get worse and the repair bill will get even bigger.

When you say 'dodgy sensor', are you referring to the Lambda sensor itself, or something else in the exhaust treatment system? Did you notice any exhaust leaks or smells, or was it just the rough running and the check engine light? Any detail you have will be appreciated!

It was definitely related to a sensor in the exhaust system somewhere. I can't say for sure it was the Lambda sensor, but it did result in the same kind of issues you are describing. The smell was there. After replacing the sensor, everything went back to normal, so I suggest you visit your local workshop soon.

I dropped it off at the workshop this morning. It WAS the lambda sensor like I suspected. They quoted me 375€ for the replacement and diagnostics. I appreciate the help and peace of mind knowing I wasn't completely off base with my initial diagnosis!
