Fusion Hybrid Engine Stalling

I have a 2014 Ford Fusion Hybrid with just under 88000 km. Lately, the check engine light has been coming on intermittently. I've also noticed the engine occasionally stalls when idling, and there's been a noticeable reduction in engine power. I suspect it might be related to the fuel injection system. Has anyone else experienced similar issues?

Sounds like a potential fuel delivery problem. The stalling and reduced power, combined with the check engine light, point in that direction. Have you noticed any misfires or rough idling before the stalling occurs? It could be a faulty fuel volume regulator or even a failing high-pressure fuel pump. Do you know if any codes are stored in the ECU?

I don't have the equipment to read the ECU codes myself. If it is indeed the fuel volume regulator or high-pressure pump, is there a way to confirm this without specialized tools? And would a defective high-pressure pump also trigger misfires?

Without reading the codes, it's tough to pinpoint the exact cause. A failing high-pressure pump can definitely lead to misfires because the engine isn't getting enough fuel, especially at idle or under load. Given the symptoms and mileage, and the risk of damaging other components, I would strongly recommend taking it to a reputable workshop for a proper diagnosis. They can perform a fuel pressure test and read the fault codes to accurately determine the problem.

Thanks for the advice. I took it to the shop, and after diagnosis, it turned out the high-pressure fuel pump was indeed defective, leading to a faulty fuel volume regulator. The repair, including parts and labor, came to 1510€ Appreciate the help!
