Fusion key fob issue

I have a 2011 Ford Fusion diesel with only 25603 km on the clock. Recently, I've been getting a 'key battery low' warning on the dashboard. Now, the keyless access no longer works. There's also an error stored in the error memory, and unlocking/locking the car is becoming unreliable. I suspect the key fob battery is the culprit but thought I'd check if anyone else has experienced this.

I had a similar issue with my old 2016 Opel Astra. The 'key battery low' warning came up, and soon after, the remote functions became intermittent. Eventually, the remote stopped working altogether. Did you try using your spare key to see if the problem persists?

Good suggestion. The spare key exhibits the same behavior. Does this still point towards a simple battery replacement, or could there be another underlying electrical problem at play?

With both keys acting up, it strongly indicates the batteries. While it could be something more complex, I'd still start with fresh batteries in both fobs. It's a cheap and easy fix if it works. If the problem returns shortly after replacing the batteries, then I'd suggest having a workshop take a look.

Thanks for the input. You were spot on. Replaced the batteries in both key fobs, and everything is working perfectly again. The total cost was 37€ at the workshop. Appreciate the advice!
