Fusion Overheating Active Air Flap

My 2010 Ford Fusion, diesel engine, 224039 km, throws a check engine light and overheats. I suspect the active air flap is faulty. Has anyone else seen this? Could it be a defective electromechanism?

Summary of the thread

Fusion overheating? Check engine light on? Sounds familiar. I had a similar problem with my Fusion. Are you talking about the active grille shutters?

Active grille shutters, you say? Was that the cause of your overheating issue? What was the fix?

Yep, same issue. It ended up being a defective electromechanism on the air flap. I suggest getting it checked at a workshop; it saved me a headache.

Thanks for the confirmation. I diagnosed the same – active air flap fault. 590€ repair bill. Appreciate the help.
