Fusion Overheating Active Air Flap
Summary of the thread
A 2010 Ford Fusion with a diesel engine is experiencing overheating and a check engine light, suspected to be caused by a faulty active air flap. This issue may be due to a defective electromechanism in the active grille shutters. The recommended solution is to have the vehicle checked at a workshop, as this was a successful fix for a similar problem.

Active grille shutters, you say? Was that the cause of your overheating issue? What was the fix?

Yep, same issue. It ended up being a defective electromechanism on the air flap. I suggest getting it checked at a workshop; it saved me a headache.

Thanks for the confirmation. I diagnosed the same – active air flap fault. 590€ repair bill. Appreciate the help.

Fusion overheating? Check engine light on? Sounds familiar. I had a similar problem with my Fusion. Are you talking about the active grille shutters?
