G Klasse Engine Mount Troubles Uneven Idle
Summary of the thread
A 2017 G Klasse with a diesel engine exhibited uneven idle, and a diagnostic scan indicated an error related to the engine mount. The likely cause was identified as a defective cable or plug connection. It was suggested to inspect the wiring and connectors associated with the engine mount's sensor before considering a full replacement. After further investigation, the issue was resolved by replacing the defective cable, resulting in a smooth idle.

Thanks for the quick reply. No recent impacts that I am aware of, but the roads around here aren't exactly smooth. When you had the issue, did you notice any specific vibrations at certain speeds or engine RPMs? Also, was your error code specific to one particular engine mount, or did it just indicate a general problem with the system?

In my case, the vibrations were most noticeable at idle and low speeds. The error code pointed to a specific engine mount, necessitating a physical inspection. Given the age and mileage of your vehicle, it would be advisable to have a qualified technician perform a thorough assessment to ascertain the precise cause. While troubleshooting is commendable, some diagnostic procedures require specialized equipment. I suggest you visit a workshop.

Appreciate the advice. Sounds like a trip to the workshop is in order. I'll have them check the wiring and connectors first, and then proceed from there. Turns out it was indeed a defective cable at the engine mount. They replaced the cable and cleared the error code. The idle is now smooth. Thanks again for your help!

I have encountered a similar issue with my G Klasse. While the error code might point to the engine mount itself, it is prudent to investigate the integrity of the wiring and connectors associated with the engine mount's sensor. A faulty connection can indeed mimic a defective engine mount. Before replacing the entire unit, ensure all connections are secure and free from corrosion. Has the vehicle experienced any recent impacts or unusual vibrations?
