That's a helpful analogy Engine performance does seem a bit sluggish yes Did you end up replacing the sensor yourself or did you take it to a workshop And was the exhaust sensor the definitive cause for you

I would recommend taking it to a workshop In my instance the exhaust sensor was indeed the cause Better to have it professionally diagnosed and repaired especially if you are seeing diminished engine performance to prevent potential damage to the exhaust system

Thanks for the advice I took it to the workshop and you were spot on It was the exhaust back pressure sensor Replaced it and everything's back to normal No more smoke the light's gone and the DPF is regenerating as it should Appreciate the help

I drive a G Klasse as well I had similar symptoms The smoke, the light, and the regeneration issue all point to that exhaust sensor Think of it like this if your car's exhaust system is a circulatory system that sensor is like a key blood pressure regulator If it's off things go haywire Is your engine performance suffering
