G Klasse Gear Shift Indicator Fault
Summary of the thread
A 2020 Mercedes G Klasse is experiencing a gear shift indicator fault at 209,367 km, leading to issues with gear engagement, transmission slipping, unclean shifts, and grinding noises. The gear selection display is blank, and an error code is stored, suggesting a defective control unit. A similar issue was resolved by addressing a glitchy connection, but in this case, the control unit is confirmed to be defective and is being replaced.
Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Interesting. When you say 'similar', was your gear indicator also dead? And did you also have shifting problems? Was it fixed by replacing the sensor?

Yeah, the indicator was totally blank sometimes, and the shifting was jerky. I was lucky, it was a glitchy connection. But I'd get it checked at a workshop pronto. These things can get expensive fast!

Thanks for the input. Turns out you were right about getting it checked. It was indeed a defective control unit, just like I suspected, and they are replacing it. I appreciate you sharing your experience.

Dude, that sounds rough. My G Klasse had something kinda similar. The gear shift was acting bonkers, like trying to play a video game with a broken joystick. Was it a sensor problem maybe?
