G Klasse MOST bus fault

My 2010 Mercedes G Klasse with a gasoline engine is exhibiting a MOST bus fault. Mileage is 118216 km. Symptoms include no audio output, a non-functional audio system and navigation. Car diagnostics reveal an error stored in the error memory. I suspect a defect within a control unit linked to the MOST bus, potentially impacting data transmission via fiber optics and the automotive protocol. Anyone experienced similar issues?

Oh man, MOST bus issues are a pain! I had a similar problem with my G Klasse. No sound, nav dead... everything. Does your car have the upgraded sound system? If so, that amp is a prime suspect. Could also be the head unit itself, but usually, it's something downstream causing the whole bus to crash.

Thanks for the quick response. I do have the upgraded sound system. Where is the amp located? And did your car diagnostics point to the amplifier directly, or did you have to troubleshoot?

The amp is usually under one of the front seats, easy to get to. No the car diagnostics didn't specifically pinpoint the amp. The car only told me the MOST bus had an issue. I had to trace the signal with a fiber optic loop to figure out which control unit wasn't playing nice. Honestly, I'd suggest taking it to a workshop with experience with the MOST bus. It'll save you a massive headache.

Appreciate the advice. Took it to a specialist, and you were spot on. The amplifier was indeed the culprit. Repair cost was around 1000€. Replaced the unit, and everything is back online. Thanks again!
