Galaxy Check Engine Light Fuel Consumption

I'm experiencing trouble with my 2013 Ford Galaxy diesel. The check engine light is on, and my fuel consumption has noticeably increased. A mechanic suggested it might be related to the inlet VANOS mechanics being faulty. Has anyone else encountered this?

Sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my Galaxy, though I can't recall the exact year. Did they mention anything about the camshaft solenoid valves or the power supply to them?

Yes, they did mention a potential defect in one of the camshaft solenoid valves or a power supply issue. Does that align with what you experienced? Is it something I can check myself?

Yep, that's pretty much what I was told too. I wouldn't recommend fiddling with it yourself unless you really know what you're doing. Best bet is to take it to a workshop; it's probably an oil sludge issue.

Thanks for the advice. I took it to the workshop, and you were spot on! It was indeed a faulty camshaft solenoid valve, with an oil sludge issue. The repair cost me 250€. I appreciate your help!
