Galaxy Crankshaft Sensor Error

I'm pulling my hair out! I've got a 2022 Ford Galaxy, hybrid engine, and recently the check engine light came on. The car has done 77353 km. I'm getting seriously reduced engine power, the engine response is sluggish, and the fuel consumption has definitely gone up. I scanned it and it's showing a 'Crankshaft to Camshaft Reference Value' error. I'm thinking it might be the crankshaft sensor acting up? Has anyone else dealt with this?

Summary of the thread

A 2022 Ford Galaxy with a hybrid engine exhibited reduced power, sluggish response, and increased fuel consumption, accompanied by a 'Crankshaft to Camshaft Reference Value' error. The issue was suspected to be related to the crankshaft sensor, with potential causes including faulty wiring or a defective sensor. After checking the wiring and connectors, the problem was confirmed to be the crankshaft sensor, which was replaced, resolving the issue and restoring the vehicle's performance.

That crankshaft/camshaft correlation error can be a pain. It does sound like the crank sensor, but have you checked the wiring and connectors to the sensor? Sometimes a loose or corroded connection can cause weird issues like this. Also, is the engine making any unusual noises?

Thanks for the quick response! I did give the wiring and connectors a quick look, but nothing jumped out at me. I'll definitely take a closer look this weekend. As for engine noises, nothing out of the ordinary that I can hear. If it is the sensor, is it a straightforward replacement, or is there anything else I should be looking at while I'm in there?

If the wiring checks out, and there are no unusual noises it unfortunately does point to the sensor itself. Replacing it isn't too difficult, but you will need to make sure you have the correct tools. It might be worth getting a professional diagnosis, especially with a hybrid. It might save you money and stress in the long run.

Appreciate the advice. I took it to my local shop. They confirmed it was the crankshaft sensor. Got it replaced; 340€, parts and labor. Runs like a charm again!
