Galaxy Engine Running Lean

My 2006 Ford Galaxy with a gasoline engine is running lean. I've got reduced power, check engine light, rough running, and jerking when accelerating. I suspect the injection system, maybe a defective injector. I've checked the intake manifold, MAF sensor, and cleaned the throttle body. Any ideas before I replace the catalytic converter?

Summary of the thread

A 2006 Ford Galaxy with a gasoline engine is experiencing lean running conditions, resulting in reduced power, a check engine light, rough running, and jerking during acceleration. The initial suspicion is a defective injector, with checks already performed on the intake manifold, MAF sensor, and throttle body. Suggestions include inspecting for vacuum leaks and considering the fuel filter, though a professional diagnosis ultimately confirmed a faulty injector as the cause.

I had similar symptoms in my old Opel Astra diesel: reduced power, engine light, hesitation. Have you checked for vacuum leaks? A faulty vacuum line can throw off the fuel mixture. What about the fuel filter? When was the last time you replaced it?

Thanks! I did a visual inspection for vacuum leaks, but I'll check again more carefully. The fuel filter was replaced about 30,000 km ago. Could a partially clogged fuel filter really mimic a defective injector so closely?

On my Astra, a partially clogged fuel filter created a lot of problems. It wasn't completely blocked, but enough to starve the engine at higher RPMs. Still, with your tests, a faulty injector is highly probable. I changed a lot of parts. I think it's time to measure the pressure; that will narrow down your problem. Maybe get a diagnosis from a trusted workshop before investing more time and money.

Thanks for the advice! Getting a professional diagnosis made sense. It was a faulty injector and the repair cost 515€.
