Galaxy exhaust flap issue
Summary of the thread
A 2022 Ford Galaxy hybrid with 118,000 kilometers experienced issues with the exhaust flaps, leading to louder exhaust noise and a noisy engine after a cold start. The problem was suspected to be a defective exhaust flap, which also caused increased fuel consumption and sluggish engine performance at lower RPMs. The issue was confirmed by a workshop, and after replacing the defective exhaust flap, the vehicle returned to smooth and quiet operation.

Engine performance feels a bit sluggish at lower RPMs, and fuel consumption seems to have increased slightly, maybe 5-10%. Does this further point to the exhaust flaps?

Increased fuel consumption and sluggishness definitely add weight to the exhaust flap theory! I would highly recommend getting it checked out by a workshop; they'll be able to confirm the issue and give you a proper fix.

Took it to a workshop, and the exhaust flap was indeed defective. The repair, including parts and labor, came to around 190€. Now it runs perfectly, smooth and quiet!

Loud exhaust and error codes on a hybrid Galaxy? Sounds like your exhaust flaps are causing trouble. Are you noticing any change in engine performance besides the noise? Has fuel consumption been affected?
