Safety switch, eh? Where exactly do I find that thing? Is it easy to get to?

Yep, the error message mentioned safety switch. As for the location on the Galaxy, I'm not sure. But it's worth checking before you consider a workshop. Likely it is the cable. But better be safe than sorry.

Right, thanks for the help! Mechanic confirmed it was the clutch pedal switch cable and plug. 95€ and all sorted!

Sounds familiar. Had a similar issue with my old Opel Astra. Gear selector went haywire. Is the error message related to the safety switch? If so, check that cable.
