Galaxy Keyless Entry Fault
Summary of the thread
A 2006 Ford Galaxy experienced a keyless entry malfunction, accompanied by an error message. The issue was identified as a 'Door Module Communication Error,' suggesting a connectivity problem, possibly due to a defective cable or plug connection. The recommended solution was to consult a workshop for a proper diagnosis. The workshop found a corroded connector in the door, cleaned it, and replaced a short section of wiring, resolving the issue.

Thanks for the reply! I don't have the exact error code at hand right now, but it was something along the lines of 'Door Module Communication Error'. Does that point towards the connections you mentioned, or could it be something worse, like a totally fried module?

The 'Door Module Communication Error' strongly suggests a connectivity problem, as I initially mentioned. However, it could also point to a failing sensor rather than a faulty connection. Think of it like this: the door module is the switchboard operator, and the sensors are the people trying to make calls. If the switchboard operator can't connect to a particular sensor (due to a faulty wire), or the sensor itself is malfunctioning, you'll get a communication error. To be completely sure, checking the error codes from a proper ODB device would be advisable. Ultimately, given your level of experience, I would recommend consulting with a workshop, as tracing down the correct electric cable could be intricate and dangerous.

Thanks a lot for the advice! I took it to a local workshop, and you were spot on – it was a corroded connector in the door. They cleaned everything up and replaced a short section of wiring. Cost me 95€ and everything is working perfectly again. You saved me a ton of guesswork!

It sounds like you have an electrical fault somewhere in the door electronics. Given that keyless access relies on sensors in the door handle communicating with the car's computer, a likely cause is a defective cable or plug connection. When you say 'error message', can you be more specific? What's the exact wording or error code you're seeing? Knowing that will help narrow down the potential culprits.
