Galaxy rough running and stalling
Summary of the thread
A 2010 Ford Galaxy with a gasoline engine is experiencing rough running, stalling at idle, and jerking during acceleration, with the check engine light on. The suspected cause is a defective ignition coil, possibly due to a bad cable or plug connection. After taking the car to a workshop, it was confirmed that the issue was indeed a defective ignition coil and a faulty connector, which were repaired, resolving the problem.

Spark plug connections are secure. Misfiring is happening. Could a faulty coil pack cause the check engine light to come on intermittently even if the connections appear solid?

Absolutely. Think of it like a flickering lightbulb. The connection might seem fine, but internally it's shorting out. The ECU detects the misfire and throws up the check engine light. Best bet is to get it properly diagnosed at a workshop to pinpoint the faulty coil.

Thanks. I suspected as much. Took it to the shop. They confirmed it was a defective ignition coil and a faulty connector. Repair cost me 95€. Runs like new now.

Sounds familiar. I had similar symptoms with my old 2008 Opel Vectra. Rough running, stalling, and the dreaded check engine light. Is it misfiring? It felt like driving a tractor sometimes. Check the spark plug connections as well. A loose wire there can cause all kinds of mayhem.
