Galloper check engine light and smoke
Summary of the thread
A 2001 gasoline Galloper is experiencing a check engine light, smoke, and reduced engine power. The issue might be related to the crankcase ventilation valve. A similar case was resolved by replacing this valve, and it is advised to consult a mechanic for inspection and replacement to prevent worsening emissions.

Yes, the smoke is more pronounced at idle, and seems to worsen with acceleration. Did replacing the ventilation valve solve the issue for you, or was there something else involved?

Yes, the ventilation valve was the culprit! But the system is super sensitive, I wouldn't risk doing anything myself, the emissions could get way worse. I went to the workshop straight away.

I appreciate your advice, it's incredibly helpful. I'll schedule an appointment with a trusted mechanic to have the crankcase ventilation valve inspected and replaced. The estimated repair cost is around 360€, hopefully that will solve it.

I own a Galloper too, and I remember having similar symptoms once. Especially the smoke... Was quite scary to be honest. Is it at idle too?
