Thanks. Could you elaborate on how you diagnosed the issue with the transmission control unit on your BMW? Were there any specific diagnostic steps you took?

I took it to a mechanic. They ran diagnostics and found a fault code related to the control unit. They suspected it was defective and upon replacement, the issues vanished. Given your symptoms, it's worth investigating. Your symptoms match mine, so I'd suggest going straight to a workshop!

I appreciate the advice. It seems the affected control unit was indeed defective, as you suggested. I have proceeded with a replacement, incurring a cost of 1000€. Thank you again for pointing me in the right direction.

Sounds similar to what I had with my old BMW 5 series. The digital display went haywire and the transmission was acting up. Have you checked the transmission control unit? That was the culprit in my case.
